Global Fashion Awards 2016

Hey guys! So I’m a little bit late to the game with this one (blame the mountain of college assignments I had to get through the past few weeks) but seeing as the British Fashion Council’s awards ceremony he Global Fashion Awards was on at the beginning of December I thought I’d do a quick, albeit late, post about it.

The British Fashion Council (BFC) was founded in 1983 and describes themselves on their website as “a not-for-profit organisation that aims to further the interests of the British fashion industry and its designer businesses by harnessing and sharing collective knowledge, experience and resources of the sector”.

Each year, the BFC hosts The Fashion Awards, a glamorous event held to honor and recognise the best British and international talent in the fashion industry. This year, the award ceremony was held in the Royal Albert Hall in London and all proceeds from the night were to go towards the BFC’s Education Foundation which supports aspiring individuals by providing scholarships to go to leading fashion colleges.

This year the awards raised £700,000 with £300,000 of this going to the BFC’s Education Foundation and the remaining £400,000 going to support educational programs NEWGEN, Business Support and the BFC Colleges Council.

Although the overall aim of the event is to raise funds for the BFC’s education foundation, there’s no denying the sheer excitement and glamour of having the fashion industry’s best all in the one room! With all the big names like Ralph Lauren, Anna Wintour, Jourdan Dunn, Alexa Chung, Tom Ford and Kate Moss in attendance it’s hard not to remark at the vast amount of talent in the one place.

I’ll keep this post short and sweet (largely because I still have assignments to be finishing!) but I’ll leave you with the winners at this years awards.
